Devoutness and sacred art
Sanzeno is perhaps the most important knot of Trentino’s Christian history, and it is not at random that throngs of believers come here to come into touch with the place’s religious heritage in a route that is unique of its kind.
It is a historic town owing to the slaying of the Holy Anauni Martyrs during their attempt to evangelise the valley in 397 A.D. Sanzeno is also the town of St. Romedio’s legendary exile. Here he found the surroundings suited to his life of prayer.
The sacred atmosphere surrounding the town can be perceived when visiting Basilica dei Martiri and the other small, charming Sanzeno churches, in addition to the extraordinary San Romedio Sanctuary surrounded by luxuriant vegetation located just a short distance away.
